Cyprus and Climate Change: Empowering Students through Digital Storytelling to Preserve Cultural Her

This paper "Cyprus and Climate Change: Empowering Students through Digital Storytelling to Preserve Cultural Heritage" (2025) examines (in English) how 26 university students at the University of Cyprus (UCY) are being sensitized to climate issues through a hands-on, research-based digital storytelling initiative conducted in a French language course. As part of the Festival Francophone du Reportage Court 2025, students investigate climate-related challenges, conduct research, identify and interview professionals working on sustainable solutions, and document their findings through short documentary films. The paper evaluates the pedagogical impact of digital storytelling, exploring how experiential learning cultivates critical thinking, civic responsibility, and linguistic proficiency in French. Through case studies of student-led projects, it highlights how education can transform theoretical knowledge into practical action and reinforces storytelling as a powerful tool for climate change awareness and advocacy.

O artigo foi lançado como parte da “1ª Conferência Internacional de Tecnologias Sociais da Memória” (2025), e da 12ª Conferência Internacional de Digital Storytelling, que propõe reflexão sobre o papel das tecnologias sociais da memória inspirando ações e transformações. Intitulado “Vidas, Vozes e Saberes em um Mundo em Chamas”, a conferência híbrida reuniu nomes que são referência mundial em memória, tecnologias sociais e cultura.
